The Botswana Real Estate Conference and Expo proved to be a significant event where industry players, leaders, and decision-makers gathered to share knowledge and insights on the pressing issues facing the real estate sector. This in-person forum encouraged discussions aimed at tackling the challenges within the industry.
RDC was proud to be represented by its esteemed Country Manager, Mr. Letsweletse Ramokate, who served as a guest facilitator for a panel discussion at this prestigious event. A qualified Town Planner with an MPhil degree from the University of Reading, UK, Letsweletse brought a wealth of experience to the discussion. He began his career at the Ministry of Local Government and Lands, where he played a key role in developing regional plans.
Letsweletse add: “There are many factors that affect the property sector, one of the key ones is the legal and regulatory framework governing town planning and property development consent. The discussion I was leading on this particular day, centered on the efficiency of planning regulations issued by the Department of Town and Country Planning to guide planning at local level. The debate was centered around their ability to assist local planning authorities execute their mandates more efficiently. Obviously, there were divergent views from the panelists on how effective statutory instrument No. 26 in particular has been.”
Since joining RDC in 1992, Letsweletse had been instrumental in numerous significant property developments throughout Botswana. In 2006, he led the Property Development and Management Division at the Botswana Development Corporation, overseeing the successful listings of Letlole la Rona and Cresta Marakanelo on the Botswana Stock Exchange. His expertise also included serving as Director at Lobatse Clay Works, where he contributed to its growth and operational excellence.
Letsweletse rejoined RDC as Country Manager in 2021, where he continued to revitalize the Group’s operations. He remained dedicated to driving growth and innovation while maintaining the highest standards of sustainability, integrity, and client-centric service.
